Every week I’ll provide updates on the latest trends in cloud software companies. Follow along to stay up to date! Was the March Rally Real? Cloud software stocks hit a local minimum in mid-march and then sharply bounced up 20% in the last 2 weeks of March. This came with the backdrop of a global war, rising inflation, a very hawkish Fed, and an impending recession that seems more likely every day. Hard to feel like the 20% jump was warranted. So was the bounce off the bottom mid March real or should we expect another leg down?
Love how you're blending in macro into the thought process.
I'd suggest tracking US 10y tsy rate vol (and vol of vol) if you're not already. You're going to see some very distinct rebalancing behavior in growth names starting, driven off fundamentals underlying US 10yr tsy volatility.
Just read your interesting article from a year ago on the competition between snowflake and databricks on data cloud. Now AWS redshift is definitely getting stronger and a new comer has joined the race with lots of eyebrows raised, ie Oracle heatwave. Just wondering if you care to write up a follow up on this data cloud battle.
Love your take, however a cut to spending and long term replacement of staff leads to software as a substitute. That’s where Saas comes in. I guess 20% jump is not entirely from short squeeze.
Great insights. Can you add some salt also on more consumption based stocks from Cpaas industry? Twilio is a blend of Saas and Cpaas while I think Cpaas is majority of their revenue…
Would love to see, one day in the future, China SaaS names added. China cloud is running 5 years behind US at least, and still only a handful of listed software comps, but growing fast 50%+ and trading at 50% discount to US (probably deserved for now...) Yonyou and Kingdee for ERP, Glodon like Autodesk, Weimob like Shopify, Ming yuan cloud ...
I love these overviews. Is it possible to get the table with all SaaS stocks as excel file? Would appreciate that so much!
